{"id":22420,"date":"2017-12-14T10:11:11","date_gmt":"2017-12-14T09:11:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vergnet-hydro.com\/vh\/en\/?p=22420"},"modified":"2021-12-20T12:12:22","modified_gmt":"2021-12-20T11:12:22","slug":"big-drinking-water-supply-cote-ivoire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vergnet-hydro.com\/vh\/en\/big-drinking-water-supply-cote-ivoire\/","title":{"rendered":"1st big drinking water supply project in C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>More than 150,000 people from now on have access to drinking water<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gouv.ci\/\">Ministry of Economic Infrastructures of the Republic of C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire<\/a><\/strong> officially inaugurated the <strong>drinking water supply systems<\/strong>, part of the <strong>PROGRAMME D&#8217;HYDRAULIQUE ET D&#8217;ASSAINISSEMENT POUR LE MILLENAIRE<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/europeaid\/sites\/devco\/files\/aap-financing-ivory-coast-af-20121211_fr.pdf\">PHAM<\/a>, HYDRAULIC AND SANITATION PROGRAM FOR THE MILLENIUM). <em>\u201cVERGNET HYDRO has, for more than 30 years, provided a lot of manual pumps in C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire. But, <strong>it is the first time we are implementing such a huge drinking water supply project<\/strong>\u201d<\/em>, says enthusiastically <strong>Etienne DECHERF, Business and Operations Director<\/strong> of VERGNET HYDRO.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the PHAM, <strong>more than 150,000 people from rural Western C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire<\/strong> (Cavally, Guemon, Haut Sassandra, Marahou\u00e9 and Tonkpi) from now on have access to drinking water. The project included the <strong>repairs of 13 drinking water supply systems<\/strong> (replacement of water pipes, building of new standpipes, etc.) and <strong>29 new drinking water systems<\/strong> (electrical equipment and connections of boreholes, pipes laying, etc.). <em>\u201cWe implemented this project in <strong>partnership with our Ivorian subsidiary SAHER and with the company MTK SERVICES<\/strong>. VERGNET HYDRO, the lead partner, provided all the equipment, except for the water towers. MTK SERVICES coordinated the implementation of the works\u201d<\/em>, says <strong>Thomas CANDELORO, Project Manager<\/strong> of VERGNET HYDRO.<\/p>\n<h3>People that have been greatly affected by the 2002 civil war<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Funded primarily by the EUROPEAN UNION<\/strong>, and with <strong>support of the Ivorian government and the KREDITANSTALT FUR WIEDERAUFBAU<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kfw.de\">KfW<\/a>), the hydraulic part of the program is being <strong>piloted by the OFFICE NATIONAL DE L\u2019EAU POTABLE<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/onepci.net\">ONEP<\/a>, NATIONAL BOARD FOR DRINKING WATER) in C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire. <em>\u201cFrom the advent, this project, spread over <strong>a territory as big as Ireland<\/strong>, was a real challenge. It is providing with drinking water <strong>people that have been greatly affected by the 2002 civil war<\/strong>.
