{"id":22406,"date":"2017-11-09T16:01:33","date_gmt":"2017-11-09T15:01:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vergnet-hydro.com\/vh\/en\/?p=22406"},"modified":"2017-11-10T13:45:47","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T12:45:47","slug":"solar-powered-water-supply-drc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vergnet-hydro.com\/vh\/en\/solar-powered-water-supply-drc\/","title":{"rendered":"Innovative drinking water supply networks in DRC"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Innovations at the heart of a large agroforestry project<\/h2>\n<p>The<strong> German foundation <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.hss.de\/english.html\">HANNS SEIDEL<\/a><\/strong>, leader of the <strong>project NTSIO<\/strong> in <strong>Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)<\/strong>, has lately received in attendance of the European Union Ambassador in DRC the <strong>hybrid solar-powered water supply networks<\/strong> provided and set up by VERGNET HYDRO. <em>\u00ab We are particularly proud of the trust that the HANNS SEIDEL foundation expressed to us when they gave us the opportunity to be involved in such a challenging project and to roll out not less challenging facilities \u00bb<\/em>, confides <strong>Thierry BARBOTTE, Managing Director of VERGNET HYDRO<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>5-year community-based agroforestry project<\/strong> NTSIO, <strong>launched in 2013<\/strong> and <strong>funded by the European Commission<\/strong>, aims at <strong>sustaining the populations of the Bat\u00e9k\u00e9 Plateau<\/strong> (150 km from Kinshasa) through <strong>agricultural development<\/strong> in a 13,500-acre territory. Its originality is derived from the introduction of the acacia auriculiformis in the food crops rotation. The project benefits<strong> 260 households<\/strong>, in 65 farms composed of 4 houses each.<\/p>\n<h3>Hybrid solar-powered water supply networks in the Bat\u00e9k\u00e9 Plateau<\/h3>\n<p>The people take advantage of an <strong>innovative approach to delivering access to drinking water<\/strong>. Firstly, because the inhabitants draw water from standpipes thanks to e-keys (<strong>cashless payment<\/strong>), that they beforehand credited with the <strong>water service operators<\/strong>.
